Willis Supports Higher Education and Social Service Funding Plan

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Addison, is supporting a measure that would restore funding to essential social services and to higher educational institutions.

“With each day that we fail to resolve the budget impasse, more and more people do not receive the services that they rely on,” Willis said. “I have voted repeatedly to restore funding to these critical services, and I urge my colleagues and the governor to pass this bill into law.”

HB2990 would appropriate funds to various State agencies and educational institutions. It would allow home-bound seniors medical services that would keep them in their homes, provide funding for breast and cervical cancer screenings for women, and fund grants for college students that require financial assistance to continue their education. Willis voted for the measure Thursday and it awaits action from the State Senate, before being sent to the governor.

“We need to come together to solve the many problems that Illinois is currently facing,” Willis said. “I will continue to work for the taxpayers I represent by supporting measures like this one that take care of members of our community.”

Kathleen Willis is serving her second term in the Illinois General Assembly as State Representative of the 77th District, which includes O’Hare Airport and portions of Addison, Bellwood, Bensenville, Franklin Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, Stone Park, and Wood Dale.
