MELROSE PARK, Ill. – In an effort to help identify the challenges faced by current and past members of the U.S. military, state Rep. Kathleen Willis (D-Addison) will be hosting Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director Erica Borggren for a Veteran’s Town Hall Meeting at Leoni Hall located in the George A. Leoni Complex at 800 N. 17th Avenue in Melrose Park on Thursday, September 26th at 10:00 AM.

“It is important that we make the process of accessing vital state resources as easy as possible for our military heroes and their families,” said Willis. “I am hosting Director Borggren as part of an effort to make sure these individuals can connect with the person at the helm of our state’s efforts to address the needs of veterans.”

The Veterans’ Town Hall Meeting will present an opportunity for residents to come and hear about efforts on the state level in the General Assembly and the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs to advocate on behalf of members of the armed services. Attendees will also learn more about different resources available at the state level and how they can be accessed.

“I hope veterans and current military personnel who have questions or would like to learn more about the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs attend,” said Willis. “Making sure we are doing what we need to do to support people who are willing to put their lives on the line to protect our freedom is vitally important. While our goal is to attract military man and women to this event, I would also encourage anyone who is interested in helping our heroes to also attend.”
