Rep. Kathleen Willis and Secretary of State Jesse White Announce Grants to Local Library

BENSENVILLE, IL –State Representative Kathleen Willis, D- Addison, along with Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced a grant to the Bensenville Public Library for $125,000 for the purpose of expanding their building to provide more services to local youth.

“I’m excited to announce this funding because I am a strong believer in the work that libraries do for the community,” said Willis. “This funding will help the library to grow and to provide more resources for the youth of Bensenville and surrounding communities.”

The grants are administered through the office of the Illinois Secretary of State. Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has awarded $701,386 in FY15 Live and Learn Construction Grants to 17 public libraries to help pay for essential, capital improvements. In addition to the Bensenville Public Library, 16 other libraries throughout Illinois were recipients of grant money.

“Our public libraries are cornerstones of our communities,” said White. “I am pleased to award these grants through the Illinois State Library to help maintain the infrastructure of our public libraries so that they remain the best information resource available to citizens.”

Kathleen Willis is serving her second term in the Illinois General Assembly as State Representative of the 77th District, which includes O’Hare Airport and portions of Addison, Bellwood, Bensenville, Franklin Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, Stone Park, and Wood Dale.
