Willis to Hold Forum on Illinois’ Fiscal Climate with State Financial Expert

NORTHLAKE, Ill. – State Rep. Kathleen Willis (D-Addison) will be welcoming Dan Long, Executive Director of the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (COGFA) to her upcoming Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 1 at her district office located at 112 N. Wolf Road in Northlake.

"I have only been in office a short while, and while I am proud that I recently supported a budget that devoted $2 billion to paying down old bills, cut the pay for legislators, devoted more money for local schools, and ultimately did not spend more money than the revenue that was collected, the fact remains there is much more work to do," said Willis. "I believe that the decisions made by legislators should be directed by the constituents they represent, and that’s why I am hosting this informational meeting on the financial challenges we face."

Director Long will discuss current economic forecasts for the state of Illinois, and answer questions about Illinois' financial pressures. COGFA is responsible for projecting future economic conditions in the state based upon larger overall trends and further provides the Legislature with research and information regarding state and national economies, revenue projections and the operations of Illinois government.

"I am looking forward to welcoming Director Long and all the concerned residents and business owners of the region who are interested in hearing about our fiscal condition," added Willis.

Kathleen Willis is serving her first term in the Illinois General Assembly as State Representative of the 77th District, which includes O'Hare Airport and portions of Addison, Bellwood, Bensenville, Franklin Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, Stone Park, and Wood Dale.
