Willis Receives Legislator of the Year Award from Illinois EMS Alliance

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In recognition of her efforts to make the jobs of first responders safer and more effective, state Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Addison, received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Illinois EMS Alliance last week.

“As the wife of a retired firefighter, issues regarding first responders are personal to me,” said Willis. “Our community is a safe place to raise a family because of the firefighters, medical personnel and police officers who put their own lives on the line every day to help others in need. As a legislator, it is my job to ensure they are equipped with the resources they need to do their jobs effectively and safely. I am honored to receive this award and will continue advocating for policies that will help first responders continue to help our community.”

Recently, Willis passed legislation through the House that helps emergency medical services personnel save lives by expanding their ability to administer medication to people experiencing medical emergency. This measure has the potential to save countless lives and currently awaits a vote in the Senate.
