Kathleen Willis, D-Addison, was presented with the Life Safety Award from the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance during their annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon. Willis was selected for the Life Safety Award due to her leadership in the passage of the Smoke Detector Act, which required that batteries in smoke detectors be capable of powering the unit for a minimum of ten years.
